Have you ever traveled to Fort Myers Beach? If you haven’t you should make plans to go, because it is a pretty spectacular place to visit! Fort Myers Beach is in Florida and faces into the Gulf of Mexico, which makes for warms waters and pristine beaches. Our kids had never been on a plane or to the ocean before this trip and I am glad that we chose our Fort Myers Beach Vacation as first.
Taking A Fort Myers Beach Vacation
What is Fort Myers Beach Known For?
Fort Myers and Sanibel Island are known for their beautifully pristine, white sand beaches and warm, clear Gulf of Mexico waters. Fort Myers Beach is also known for seashells and shelling! Between the beaches and islands, there are more shells then you could imagine and man, are they beautiful. It was also a lot of fun to watch the Conch come out of the sand and move around the beach.
Where to Stay In Fort Myers Beach.
We stayed directly on Fort Myers Beach at the Diamond Head Beach Resort and loved it. The room, which was more like an apartment, was beautiful and cozy. Our room had a private balcony with a beautiful view and our elevator down led straight to the beach!
They offered a fancier sit down restaurant, but our favorite was the Cabana, where we had drinks and food delivered right at the pool.
What Is There To Do At Fort Myers Beach?
There is actually quite a bit to do in Fort Myers Beach, especially if you are on an extended trip. Our Fort Myers Beach Vacation was only a couple of days, so we had to find things to do right at Fort Myers Beach. Here is what we found to do:
- Explore the beach and go shelling. Fort Myers Beach has gorgeous beaches and being right by the Sanibel Islands, it makes it the most amazing place to find beautiful shells of all different kinds.
- Manatee Park. We found out that there was a free to visit, manatee conservation park right in the area, so we went to visit in hopes of manatee sightings. It wasn’t really the right time of year for manatees, but we did see some snouts in the water.
- Sanibel Marina. Walking around the Sanibel Marina is free and fun. It is a great place to see lots of local plants and animals. Not to mention, giant houses and boats to match!
- Sunset Dolphin Tour. One of the coolest things that we did was going on a sunset dolphin tour out on the gulf. We all loaded up before dusk and headed out into deeper waters. While on the way to the dolphin straight, we saw lots of Floridian birds and tons of Mangroves! Once we got out to the dolphin area, we got to see bottle-nose dolphins spinning, jumping and playing in our wake! It was an amazing experience.
Is Fort Myers Beach Pretty?
Absolutely. It is one of the prettiest places I have ever visited and I can wait to go back again.
